Stichting Wageningen Research (WR) is one of the two legal entities of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) together with the Wageningen University.
A staff of 6,500 and 11,000 students from over 100 countries from everywhere around the world work in the domain of healthy food and living environment for governments and the business community-at-large.
Wageningen Plant Research (WPR) is the largest plant research institute in The Netherlands and conducts multidisciplinary research in the fields of breeding, agronomy, genomics, bioinformatics and plant-environment interactions. Together with plant-research related chairs from Wageningen University it forms the Plant Sciences Group, which is part of WUR.
WPR plays an important role in many national and international biotechnology and genomics initiatives in which functional genomics research programs have been established with a key aim to identify complex genetic and biochemical mechanisms underlying quality traits.
WR has an extensive scientific track record in the fields of inulin biosynthesis, terpene biosynthesis and molecular farming and has multiple patents and patent applications in these three areas.
